About the role

The Maxwell Laboratory at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute and the University of British Columbia seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate mechanisms of cell division, spindle orientation, and epithelial tissue organization in the context of hereditary and childhood cancers.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments on mammary epithelial cell fate, division symmetry, and spindle orientation.
  • Develop and maintain in vivo and ex vivo models, including mouse and genetically engineered cancer models.
  • Perform high‑content and live‑cell imaging to assess genome instability and tumor evolution.
  • Analyze data related to BRCA1‑associated pathways and contribute to translational cancer research projects.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across BC Children’s Hospital, UBC Pediatrics, and external partners.

Required profile

  • Ph.D. in cell biology, cancer biology, developmental biology, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in mammary gland biology, epithelial tissue organization, or cell division mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated experience with molecular and cellular techniques relevant to cancer research.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative research environment.
