Police Dispatcher Trainee

About the role

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is seeking trainees to join its 9‑1‑1 Police Dispatch Centres. You will work in a 24/7 environment providing critical support to police operations and the public.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor police resources and dispatch using computer‑aided dispatch and monitoring systems.
• Respond to public requests for police assistance and act as the first point of contact for emergency calls.
• Work 12‑hour shift rotations (4‑on‑4‑off) covering mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Required profile

• Residency within Edmonton, Red Deer, Regina or a 250 km radius of these locations.
• Willingness to undergo a security clearance and health evaluations.
• Ability to provide concrete examples of meeting education and experience criteria in the application.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer‑aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
• Effective communication for handling emergency calls.
