Plate Structures CAD Designer

About the role

CB&I's Plate Structures Designer uses 2D and/or 3D CAD skills, CB&I engineering and drafting templates and tools to produce design deliverables, including drawings and bills of material for plate structures, associated foundations, structural and piping elements related to CB&I Storage Solutions' products and services. The role works in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment where speed and accuracy are essential, and reports directly to the Project Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Produce accurate detail drawings for customer approval, fabrication and/or construction in line with design codes, company standards and customer drawings and specifications.
• Ensure drawing details are safe for field erection and consider constructability.
• Compare detail drawings and bills of material to the as-sold estimate and advise the project team of discrepancies.
• Run programs to produce detail drawings and bills of material.
• Forecast task duration and commit to definitive deadlines.
• Use the document management system and project collaboration and productivity tools effectively.

Required profile

• 3+ years of relevant experience.
• 2-year technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Construction Technology.
• Knowledge of steel detailing practices and standard industry conventions.
• Skills in geometry, trigonometry, unit conversions, quantity take-offs and basic bills of material.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 2D and/or 3D CAD on platforms such as MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Experience with Tekla is preferred.
