Personal Support Worker (PSW) - Long Term Care (Casual)

About the role

Sampson & Rutherford (S&R) is hiring a Personal Support Worker (PSW) for a casual position in its Long Term Care facility in Sarnia. The role takes place inside a resident's home, where staff support residents' daily needs and help improve their quality of life. The employer provides a full orientation and offers opportunities to grow skills and take on specialized roles.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living activities, including safe lifts and transfers, bathing and feeding, promoting independence, comfort and dignity
• Work alongside Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) and the care team to deliver safe, compassionate care
• Complete patient care orders (POC) so resident information stays accurate and up to date
• Take part in shift reports, care conferences and team huddles to plan and improve care
• Support residents with mobility, personal care and nutrition, and notice important changes
• Connect with residents, celebrate milestones and make them feel valued
• Take part in specialized programs such as Behavioural Supports, Rehab or Quality Improvement
• Mentor new team members through structured programs

Required profile

• PSW or Health Care Aide (HCA) certification
• Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) check completed within the past 6 months
• TB 2 Step test updated within the last year
