Peri-Operative Registered Nurse – Ottawa (Montfort Hospital)

About the role

The Peri-Operative Registered Nurse will support surgical patients throughout the pre‑operative, intra‑operative and post‑operative phases at Montfort Hospital in Ottawa. You will work either as a scrub nurse or a circulating nurse, ensuring safe and efficient operating room procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and surgical instruments for each case.
• Assist the surgical team as a scrub nurse or manage circulation duties.
• Monitor patient status and maintain sterile technique throughout procedures.
• Document nursing activities and hand over patient care post‑operatively.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and support staff to optimize patient outcomes.

Required profile

• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from a recognized university.
• Current Registered Nurse license in Ontario.
• Minimum two full‑time years of peri‑operative experience within the last four years.
• Experience in orthopedic, ENT or plastic surgery settings.
• Ability to work daytime shifts, Monday‑Friday, with no evenings or weekends.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• CPR/AED Level C certification.
• Perioperative Nursing Certification from a hospital‑based or ORNAC‑approved program.
