Payroll Partner - Analyst

About the role

The Payroll Partner – Analyst provides advanced payroll support and customer service to the UBC campus community as part of Financial Operations. Acting as a Tier 2 specialist, the incumbent resolves complex payroll and system issues while ensuring accurate, timely processing of payroll data.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting of financial and statistical events through payroll system processing.
• Provide guidance on collective agreements, contracts, legislation and university payroll policies.
• Communicate critical dates, system downtime, cut‑off times and deadlines to stakeholders.
• Identify, analyse and troubleshoot payroll discrepancies, generating variance reports and quality‑control reviews.
• Lead system‑improvement initiatives, business‑process re‑engineering and major upgrade projects.
• Act as Tier 2 liaison between managers, system users, ISC staff and vendors.
• Calculate complex payments, recover wages and support tax‑form reconciliation (T4A, T4).

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
• Completion of at least 7 of the 14 CPA academic prerequisites.
• Minimum two years of related payroll or financial‑operations experience, or equivalent education‑experience mix.
