About the role
The Music Department seeks a part‑time Lecturer to serve as Director of the Mount Allison Jazz Ensemble for the 2026‑2027 academic year. This stipendiary appointment involves leading an open‑instrumentation ensemble of about 15 students across the Fall and Winter terms.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct one weekly rehearsal (2.5 hours) on Tuesday evenings.
- Evaluate student participation and progress.
- Prepare and present up to two public concerts each term.
- Collaborate with department faculty on curriculum and performance planning.
Required profile
- Degree or diploma in jazz performance or conducting.
- Proven record of successful jazz direction at university or professional levels.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of student musicians.
