Part‑time Drapery Workroom Manager

About the role

The Drapery Workroom Manager will lead the on‑site production team at our family‑run curtain and soft‑furnishings shop in Waterloo, ON. This part‑time position ensures that custom curtains and window treatments are produced to the highest quality standards while meeting customer timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily production schedules for the drapery workroom.
• Assign tasks to sewing staff and monitor progress to meet deadlines.
• Oversee accurate measurement, cutting, and finishing of fabrics.
• Maintain inventory of fabrics, trims, and supplies; order materials as needed.
• Ensure equipment is well‑maintained and the workspace remains safe and organized.
• Collaborate with front‑of‑house staff to clarify customer requirements and delivery dates.
• Troubleshoot production or installation issues and implement continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of drapery construction, sewing techniques, and soft‑furnishings production.
• Experience supervising or coordinating a workshop or production environment.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, drawings, and measurements with high attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills for teamwork and customer interaction.
• Basic inventory management experience.
• Comfort working on‑site, standing for extended periods, and handling fabrics and tools safely.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in textiles or design is a plus.
