Paralegal – Residential Property Law

About the role
Homestead is seeking a Paralegal to support its property management teams in Burlington and Toronto. You will act as a legal advisor to management, handling landlord‑tenant matters, rent arrears, and small‑claims disputes.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and file Landlord and Tenant Board forms (N4‑N8) and represent the landlord at hearings.
- Review accounts receivable, coordinate collections, and monitor payment plans.
- Generate weekly A/R reports, maintain legal action spreadsheets, and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Liaise with housing authorities, community resources, and the sheriff’s office for evictions and orders.
- Defend claims in Small Claims Court and manage bad‑debt records.
- Provide management with resources on the Residential Tenancies Act and related procedures.
Required profile
- Active Law Society License in good standing.
- 2‑3 years of office experience, preferably with landlord‑tenant matters.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel between sites.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Yardi Voyager accounting system.
