About the role

The Palliative Care Physician Group within Island Health is seeking a dedicated physician to provide comprehensive palliative care services in Port Alberni, BC. This role offers both part‑time and full‑time permanent options and involves work across hospital, hospice, outpatient, and home‑visit settings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide palliative care consults and follow‑up in West Coast General Hospital and the 4‑bed Ty Watson House hospice.
• Deliver outpatient and home‑visit palliative care across Port Alberni and occasional outreach to Tofino/Ucluelet (vehicle required).
• Participate in the rural & remote on‑call schedule for palliative care.
• Teach and supervise medical learners, with eligibility for a faculty appointment at UBC.

Required profile

• Medical licence to practice in British Columbia.
• Eligibility for faculty appointment with the University of British Columbia.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
• Willingness to work in a rural/remote environment.
