Occupational Therapist – Community Residential Facilities

About the role

The Calgary John Howard Society is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist to join its community‑based residential facilities in Calgary. The role supports men transitioning from federal conditional release back into the community, applying occupational therapy models to address mental health, addictions, physical health and daily living needs.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health assessments covering cognition, addictions, physical health and activities of daily living.
• Develop and implement client‑centered intervention plans.
• Facilitate referrals and coordinate with healthcare providers and community resources.
• Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to program development and evaluation.

Required profile

• Degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists.
• Experience working with marginalized populations, including mental health and addiction challenges.
• Strong understanding of community resources and healthcare systems.
• Excellent communication, assessment and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a 24‑hour staffed team.
• Brain Story Certification considered an asset.
