Family Physician – Private Practice

About the role

We are seeking a Family Physician to join our private practice clinic in Calgary, delivering comprehensive primary care to patients and families. The role involves managing a diverse patient population, providing preventive, acute, and chronic care, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Collect medical information from patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
• Examine patients to identify diseases and injuries, and develop treatment plans.
• Order laboratory tests, X‑rays and other diagnostics to determine appropriate care.
• Prescribe medications, administer treatments, and provide vaccinations.
• Coordinate primary patient care, including acute and emergency management.
• Provide counseling and support on health and lifestyle issues.
• Maintain accurate medical records and report births, deaths, and communicable diseases to health authorities.
• Inoculate and vaccinate patients to prevent disease.
• Advise patients on healthy lifestyle choices and preventive measures.

Required profile

• Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry.
• College of Family Physicians Certification (CCFP) and licensure by provincial or territorial authorities.
• Membership in relevant professional bodies and commitment to continuing medical education.
• Experience in primary care is an asset.
• Willingness to work evenings, days, and weekends as needed.
