Occupational Health Nurse

About the role

Gerdau is seeking an Occupational Health Nurse to deliver comprehensive health services to employees and contractors at its Manitoba Mill, Recycling and Bradley locations. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will be a key point of contact for injury management, wellness initiatives, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑site first aid treatment and manage emergency medical situations.
• Support and administer the Disability Management program, including return‑to‑work coordination and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) reporting.
• Oversee the hearing conservation program and conduct regular medical screenings.
• Deliver health education, promote preventative care, and coordinate wellness programs such as gym memberships and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) referrals.
• Review and analyze incident report data monthly and annually, recommending corrective actions to site leadership.
• Assist with additional safety program activities as required.

Required profile

• Experience providing health care services to a diverse workforce in an industrial setting.
• Familiarity with disability management, return‑to‑work processes, and Workers’ Compensation reporting.
• Knowledge of hearing conservation standards and medical screening protocols.
• Ability to deliver health education and support employee wellness initiatives.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with managers, supervisors, union representatives and safety personnel.
