About the role

The Medical Office Assistant provides essential clerical support within the Student Health Services at UBC. Working in a client‑centred environment, the role ensures smooth administrative operations that enable high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Manage front‑desk reception duties, including greeting patients, answering inquiries and handling appointments.
• Maintain a confidential electronic medical record system, entering and updating patient information accurately.
• Process payments, prepare financial and statistical reports, and generate various administrative documents.
• Handle correspondence, both written and electronic, and communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain inventory of stationery and medical supplies, ensuring availability for daily operations.

Required profile

• Strong judgment and ability to work cooperatively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with sensitivity to a culturally diverse student and staff population.
• High level of confidentiality and professionalism when handling medical information.
• Ability to respond tactfully to anxious or frustrated individuals.
