About the role

Gerrits Engineering Limited is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its multidisciplinary team in Barrie, Ontario. The role focuses on building‑services projects, combining design, calculations, and documentation while working in a hybrid environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems for commercial and residential projects.
• Perform engineering calculations and develop detailed drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with structural, electrical, and civil engineers to integrate designs.
• Create mechanical layouts and produce accurate CAD models.
• Participate in project meetings, coordinate with clients and external partners.
• Support project‑management tasks such as scheduling, documentation, and quality control.
• Assist R&D activities to improve design standards and integrate new technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Strong foundation in mechanical engineering with experience in building‑services or related systems.
• Proficiency in machine design and application of engineering principles to safe, efficient solutions.
• Hands‑on experience with CAD software for detailed mechanical drawings.
• Ability to support project‑management coordination and documentation.
• Interest in research and development to enhance design approaches.
• Knowledge of Canadian building codes, standards, and best practices.
• Effective communication, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
