Master Mariner – Floatel Command (Rotational)

About the role

The Master Mariner will command a floatel operating alongside Squamish, BC, overseeing safe navigation, crew performance, and guest experience. This senior leadership role is offered on a three‑year rotational schedule with possible extension.

Key responsibilities

• Assume full command of the floatel, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations, navigation, berthing and mooring procedures.
• Lead, recruit, train and evaluate crew members, conduct drills and maintain a safe work environment.
• Collaborate with hotel management to deliver exceptional guest services and resolve inquiries or complaints.
• Implement safety and security protocols, conduct inspections, drills and coordinate with authorities during emergencies.
• Oversee vessel maintenance, coordinate with engineering, manage spare‑part inventory and ensure equipment functionality.
• Maintain accurate logs, manage budgets and inventories, and stay current with industry regulations.

Required profile

• Master COC (STCW Reg. II/2) for ships ≥500 GT and Master on vessels ≥3000 GT.
• STCW certifications: GMDSS, safety familiarisation, survival craft, advanced firefighting, medical first aid, ship security officer, crisis management, crowd management, passenger‑space safety, ro/ro passenger ship training, ECDIS generic and type‑specific.
• Minimum 5 years sea service on Ro‑Ro or passenger ships as Master or Chief Officer.
• Excellent written and verbal English; ability to pass drug and alcohol tests.
