Deckhand – Passenger Transfer Vessel

About the role

The Deckhand works on a passenger transfer vessel operating in Howe Sound. The primary focus is the safe and efficient movement of personnel and cargo, while adhering to all health, safety and environmental guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Perform lookout duties and safety/security rounds as directed by the vessel Master.
• Ensure passenger safety during embarkation, disembarkation and while underway, including PPE verification and safety briefings.
• Assist with loading and unloading equipment and cargo on‑shore and off‑shore.
• Monitor and record client cargo transfers and complete passenger counts for the Master.
• Operate crane and perform rigging duties when certified.
• Carry out deck duties such as safety checks, vessel husbandry, interior and exterior cleaning, and sanitation.

Required profile

• Relevant marine experience preferred.
• MED‑DVS (Marine Emergency Duties) training completed.
• Radio Operators Certificate – Marine (ROC‑M).
• Marine Basic or Advanced First Aid certification.
• Valid Seafarers Medical Certificate.
• Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing.
