Manager on Duty – Luxury Boutique Hotels

About the role

As the Manager on Duty for the Loden Hotel and Arden Hotel in downtown Vancouver, you will lead the property during your shift, ensuring smooth operations, guest safety, and brand standards. Reporting to the Director of Guest Operations, you will oversee both daytime and nighttime functions, from guest service to night audit.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional guest service, welcoming guests, handling inquiries, and ensuring memorable departures.
• Support recruitment, training, and development of the Guest Experience Team, especially for weekend and evening coverage.
• Lead day‑time operations, coordinate events, group billing, and maintain knowledge of local attractions.
• Perform night‑audit duties: post charges, reconcile accounts, generate reports, and ensure revenue integrity.
• Maintain a constant front‑desk presence, handle reservations across all channels, and address audit discrepancies with the Accounting team.
• Monitor safety practices, emergency procedures, and oversee night houseperson performance.
• Foster inter‑departmental communication to support operational continuity and guest satisfaction.

Required profile

• High school diploma (minimum); post‑secondary education in business or hospitality is an asset.
• 1–2 years of guest‑facing experience, preferably in a luxury or boutique hotel.
• Leadership or supervisory experience in a hotel setting is advantageous.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Flexibility to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to lift up to 23 kg.
