Manager, Industry and Business Affairs

About the role

The Canadian Media Producers Association is seeking a Manager of Industry and Business Affairs for its Toronto office. The role translates funding, tax credits and policy developments into practical guidance and provides day‑to‑day advice to members on business‑affairs and production‑financing strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical advice to members on budgeting, financing, recoupment, rights clearances, insurance and relationships with distributors, platforms and broadcasters.
• Monitor and interpret funding guidelines, tax credits, policy changes and market issues, delivering timely guidance to members and staff.
• Liaise with funders, industry associations and other stakeholders on business‑affairs matters.
• Conduct research and analysis to support advisory work, stakeholder engagement and departmental initiatives.
• Assist the Vice‑President with committee and working‑group activities, including agenda preparation, minutes and documentation.
• Maintain document‑management practices and provide administrative support as required.

Required profile

• Industry‑related post‑secondary diploma or certificate, or a Bachelor of Arts degree from a recognized Canadian university.
• Minimum five years of experience in a business‑affairs role at a production company, financier, broadcaster or distributor.
• Experience in physical production (live‑action or animation) is an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams and SharePoint.
