Manager, Commercial Portfolio Management (BES)

About the role

Join EQ Bank’s Commercial Credit team as the Manager of Commercial Portfolio Management (BES). You will mentor a team of senior and account managers, ensure efficient portfolio oversight, and drive high‑quality service for our commercial clients.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and delegated authority limits.
• Mentor and support Senior Account Managers, Account Managers, and the Mortgage Coordinator, addressing daily challenges and training needs.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver optimal client service.
• Implement production and service metrics to achieve best‑in‑class turnaround times for underwriting, renewals, and annual reviews.
• Promote organic growth and meet retention targets for BES maturities.
• Assess credit risk against the bank’s risk appetite and policy thresholds.
• Prepare regular senior‑level reports on maturities, annual reviews, and pipeline status.
• Provide performance feedback, motivate professional growth, and manage development plans for team members.
• Oversee contract employees, interns, LDP associates, and job‑shadowing participants.
• Review compliance and QA audits, compile feedback, and track audit results.

Required profile

• Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
• Post‑secondary education in business or finance (preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years experience in commercial real‑estate lending.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for senior‑management interaction.
• Deep technical knowledge of commercial lending, financial‑statement analysis, and Canadian market factors.
• Detail‑oriented with high integrity and a service‑excellence mindset.
• Working knowledge of AML/ATF regulations and corporate/legal documentation across Canada.
• Proven ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
