Manager, Canadian Tax

About the role

Domtar is seeking a Manager, Canadian Tax to join its in‑house tax team in Montreal. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Canadian Tax, you will lead tax compliance, provision and audit activities for a large, diversified manufacturing business.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee preparation and review of corporate income tax returns and related filings to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage quarterly and annual tax provisions, including analysis of current and deferred tax balances and supporting documentation.
• Lead tax audits with the Canada Revenue Agency and Revenu Québec, coordinating responses and assessing potential exposures.
• Provide technical tax guidance on business initiatives, transactions and operational matters.
• Identify and implement process improvements, leveraging data, automation and technology tools.
• Collaborate with finance, accounting and other business functions to align tax strategies with overall objectives.

Required profile

• CPA designation.
• Minimum 7 years of Canadian corporate tax experience.
• Bilingual in French and English.
• Advanced analytical and problem‑solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel, including large‑dataset analysis.
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems (asset).
