Underwriting Specialist

About the role

Zurich Canada is seeking an Underwriting Specialist to drive profitable growth through strong broker partnerships, disciplined underwriting, and strategic portfolio management. Reporting to the VP, Middle Market, you will manage a portfolio of new and renewal business while serving as a trusted advisor to brokers and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of new and renewal business while delivering profitable underwriting results.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and customers.
• Analyze complex risks and develop tailored coverage solutions.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to achieve profitable outcomes.
• Monitor portfolio performance and apply underwriting tools and pricing disciplines.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 7 years of underwriting or market‑facing experience.
• Proven ability to evaluate risk, develop coverage solutions, and close new and renewal business.
• Strong relationship‑building, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Experience working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
