Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

O-I, a global manufacturer of glass packaging for food and beverage brands, is hiring a Maintenance Supervisor in Brampton. The role assists the Plant Engineer in leading and directing hourly and salary staff across General Maintenance, Cold End Mechanization and the Batch & Furnace Department, covering installation, repair and maintenance of plant systems, equipment, grounds and facilities. It also supports compliance with environmental, OSHA and NFPA regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in directing and analyzing operations in response to changes in organization, personnel, equipment, policies and procedures
• Help direct preventive maintenance programs and conduct periodic inspections of plant systems, equipment, facilities and grounds
• Implement corrective actions when needed and oversee changes or upgrades
• Ensure quality of work by maintenance and production employees and supervise outside contractors
• Work with Toledo Engineering and outside contractors and suppliers, and oversee health and safety and ergonomic issues
• Train personnel in electrical, hydraulic and mechanical crafts and champion energy-saving initiatives
• Apply safety and environmental regulations, promote lean six sigma and continuous improvement, and oversee the plant apprenticeship program

Required profile

• Strong mechanical foundation and hands-on leadership with good communication skills
• Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces and in hot, dusty conditions
• Able to prioritize tasks, manage resources and handle urgent after-hours calls
• Post-secondary training such as college coursework, military technical programs or an apprenticeship; Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred
• 3-5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; glass industry experience preferred
• Authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis

What we offer

• Expected salary of $94,000 to $110,000, with a possible 12% short-term incentive bonus
