Industrial Electrician

About the role

O-I, a global manufacturer of glass packaging for food and beverage brands, is hiring an Industrial Electrician for its Brampton plant in the Greater Toronto area. The plant is growing and investing in new equipment and technology. The electrician maintains all electrical equipment in the facility, including plant machinery, structures and component parts.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, sketches and diagrams to plan troubleshooting, tracing and circuit testing
• Repair and install electrical or electronic equipment and component parts
• Modify, maintain and install PLC programs
• Perform electrical isolation of equipment for safety while minimizing interference to operations
• Advise operators, mechanics and other electrical maintenance personnel on standard operating procedures and electrical equipment requirements

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Current Industrial Electrician 442a or Construction & Maintenance 309a Red Seal license
• At least 2 years of work experience as an electrician in a heavy manufacturing or industrial environment
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English
• Authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis
• Able to work a rotating shift schedule with holiday and weekend requirements

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of electrical principles and wiring specification codes
• Working knowledge of PLCs, electronic drive systems, power distribution equipment, single and three-phase motors, control instrumentation and VFDs
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Basic PC literacy (Word, email, data entry)
