Logistics Officer (JPO)

About the role

The Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Logistics Officer will support the Western and Central Africa Regional Office (WACARO) in planning and executing supply‑chain operations that deliver food assistance to beneficiaries across a complex humanitarian landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Develop logistics plans and processes in line with WFP policies and standards.
• Support or manage logistics projects, ensuring effective delivery of food assistance.
• Gather and analyse regional logistics data, identifying bottlenecks and recommending improvements.
• Contribute to operational pipeline planning and manage procurement, shipping, port operations, customs clearance, and loading/discharging activities.
• Contract transport, warehouse and logistics services as needed.
• Provide technical support to country offices, especially during emergency responses.

Required profile

• Young professional eligible for the JPO Programme.
• Degree in logistics, supply‑chain management, international development or a related field.
• Understanding of humanitarian logistics and ability to work in a fast‑changing environment.
• Strong analytical skills for data collection and interpretation.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
