About the role

The Live Sound Facilitator supports the Communications & Production unit at McGill University by coordinating student live‑sound technicians for concerts and events. This part‑time, fixed‑term role is designed for a graduate student enrolled in the Sound Recording program at the Schulich School of Music.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain the schedule of student live‑sound technicians according to concert production requirements.
  • Keep a database of concerts that required a live‑sound technician, recording concert name, date, venue and assigned technician for payroll processing and tracking.
  • Demonstrate live‑sound reinforcement techniques and best practices to student technicians.
  • Perform other related administrative duties as needed.

Required profile

  • Full working knowledge of Schulich School of Music concert halls, event spaces and associated audio equipment.
  • Understanding of standard stereo microphone techniques.
  • Client‑focused, proactive and professional attitude.
  • Ability to work under strict timelines and communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  • Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.

Required skills

  • Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) operation.
  • Stereo microphone techniques.
  • Audio equipment operation and troubleshooting.

What we offer

  • Hourly wage of $17.17 CAD.
  • Fixed‑term contract from 23 August 2026 to 1 May 2027 (approximately 6 hours per week).
