Live-in Building Caretaker (Residential Rental)

About the role

Rhome Property Management is looking for an experienced live‑in Building Caretaker (or caretaking couple) to manage a residential rental building on McClure Road near Old Riverside Park in Abbotsford, BC. The role combines cleaning, maintenance, leasing support, and administrative duties to ensure a well‑kept, safe, and welcoming property.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of all common areas, including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, elevator cleaning, and garbage removal.
• Perform general building maintenance, minor repairs, painting, and handyman tasks as needed.
• Conduct regular inspections of common areas and building systems.
• Provide commercial cleaning to keep the building’s appearance professional.
• Coordinate access for contractors and service providers.
• Show suites to prospective residents and handle leasing inquiries.
• Respond to resident questions and concerns in a professional manner.
• Maintain accurate records and communications via email and computer systems.
• Assist with move‑in and move‑out processes, including inspections and paperwork.
• Support overall safety, security, and upkeep of the property.
• Maintain tenant relations and submit required documentation on time.

Required profile

• Minimum one year of related experience or equivalent education/training.
• Good knowledge of building maintenance and operations.
• Familiarity with the Rental Tenancy Act.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to a car.
• Ability to understand written work orders or verbal instructions.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Calm and professional under pressure, strong organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and on weekends as required.
• Successful completion of a background check.
• Availability Monday‑Friday 9:00 AM‑5:00 PM with flexibility for evenings/weekends.

What we offer

• Salary range $45,000‑$50,000 per year, based on experience and number of buildings managed.
