Legal Counsel – In‑House – Toronto

About the role

Our client, a leading Canadian pharmacy and health‑wellness retailer, is seeking an in‑house Legal Counsel to join its corporate legal team in Toronto. The role provides exposure to commercial, regulatory and strategic legal work across pharmacy, healthcare, wellness and specialty services.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial, technology and healthcare agreements, including SaaS, data‑sharing, supply, distribution and professional services contracts.
• Advise business stakeholders on pharmacy, healthcare and health‑profession regulatory matters.
• Support strategic initiatives, transactions and operational matters across affiliated businesses.
• Assist with smaller‑scale corporate and M&A transactions.
• Provide practical, business‑oriented legal and risk‑management advice to internal teams.
• Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders on technology contracting, privacy‑adjacent matters and digital initiatives.
• Manage relationships with external counsel as required.
• Contribute to the development of legal templates, processes and operational efficiencies.

Required profile

• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
• 2‑4 years of post‑call experience from a leading law firm or sophisticated in‑house legal department.
• Strong corporate/commercial drafting and negotiation experience.
• Experience with technology agreements, SaaS, privacy, data‑sharing or healthcare/pharmacy matters is a strong asset.
• Exposure to regulatory, corporate commercial or M&A work preferred.
• Bay Street training strongly preferred; in‑house experience at established organisations or major tech companies also considered.
• Excellent organizational, prioritisation and project‑management skills.
• Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal abilities.
