Lawyer (Legal Aid & Private Practice)

About the role

Toronto Advocates is seeking a motivated lawyer to join our team in North York. The role will involve providing legal services in a fast‑paced environment, supporting both legal‑aid clinic clients and private‑practice matters.

Key responsibilities

• Plead clients' cases before courts, tribunals and boards.
• Draft legal documents and prepare statements of legal opinion.
• Negotiate settlements of civil disputes and offer mediation, conciliation and arbitration services.
• Conduct legal research, gather evidence and stay current with precedents.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in law or equivalent experience.
• Membership in the Canadian Bar Association and a provincial law society.
• Pega certification and eligibility for professional liability insurance.
• Ability to handle a large caseload, meet tight deadlines and maintain high attention to detail.
