Laboratory Analyst I

About the role

The Analyst I is responsible for producing high‑quality, defensible analytical data safely and on time by following Standard Operating Procedures. The role involves complex sample preparation, performing analyses, and ensuring compliance with ISO 17025 regulations. The analyst will also support continuous improvement of laboratory efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Review the task board daily to plan and organize work.
• Perform sample preparation and analytical procedures according to SOPs.
• Analyze results, provide statements of conformity, and interpret data where applicable.
• Prepare standards and reagents, monitor inventory, and ensure adequate supplies.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Document deviations, non‑conformances, and corrective actions, reporting them to supervisors.
• Participate in SOP development, method validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide training and guidance to junior staff and maintain training records.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated success as a Laboratory Technician.
• Strong manual dexterity, accurate record‑keeping, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to follow SOPs precisely and work safely with hazardous materials.
• Good time‑management, communication, and ability to work both independently and in a team.
