Junior Research Coordinator

About the role

The Division of Hematology at the University of British Columbia is seeking a Junior Research Coordinator to support the Hematology Research Program. The role involves coordinating clinical trials and research studies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and liaising with physicians, nurses, and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct multiple studies from start‑up to closure under supervision of principal investigators and program managers.
• Ensure all study activities comply with ICH, GCP, Tri‑Council guidelines and institutional SOPs.
• Assist in protocol development, grant applications, regulatory submissions and budget planning.
• Obtain ethics and institutional approvals for investigator‑initiated and sponsor‑funded trials.
• Recruit, consent and assess study participants, providing education on protocol requirements.
• Maintain trial documentation, including source documents, case report forms and drug accountability logs.
• Coordinate with radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, health records and nursing units as required by protocols.
• Monitor patient safety, report study progress and issues to investigators and research managers.

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant discipline with at least four years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with clinical and research staff.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint.
