Junior Green Engineer – Energy Modeling

About the role

Polar Engineering is looking for a Junior Green Engineer to join its Net Zero and Grants Division. The role supports energy‑recovery and decarbonisation projects across British Columbia, working directly with the division head and the wider engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Perform energy audits and feasibility studies for existing buildings.
• Visit project sites to collect field data and identify carbon‑reduction opportunities.
• Develop detailed spreadsheet‑based energy and emissions models.
• Create 2‑D CAD drawings and system schematics.
• Conduct engineering calculations to evaluate system performance.
• Collaborate with manufacturers and contractors to select and price low‑carbon equipment.
• Prepare technical reports, grant documentation and client presentations.
• Support clients during design, construction and implementation phases.

Required profile

• 2+ year accredited technical degree (mechanical, environmental or related).
• Minimum 1 year professional experience working in British Columbia.
• Canadian citizen or permanent resident, residing in BC.
• Strong interest in teamwork, technical excellence and greenhouse‑gas reduction.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel or spreadsheet‑based energy modelling.
• 2‑D CAD drafting (e.g., AutoCAD).
• Energy and emissions modeling.
• Engineering calculations for low‑carbon systems.
