About the role
This 12‑month fixed‑term position is for a Junior Clinical Fellow (FY2) in the Department of Neurosurgery at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. You will join a team of ten FY2 doctors providing daytime and out‑of‑hours care for neurosurgical patients in an acute, multidisciplinary setting.
Key responsibilities
- Assess admissions and manage acute neurosurgical patients on the ward and HDU.
- Organise and collate test results, complete discharge summaries, and ensure safe patient handovers.
- Participate in on‑call and out‑of‑hours rotas, supporting senior staff and SPRs.
- Attend in‑house meetings for neurosurgery and neuroradiology.
Required profile
- Medical graduate with FY2 level experience, preferably with exposure to both medical and surgical receiving.
- Current GMC registration and a valid licence to practise in the UK.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and handle shift patterns that include nights, weekends and on‑call duties.
Required skills
- Competence in clinical assessment and acute patient management.
- Familiarity with hospital information systems for ordering tests and documenting care.
- Effective communication for multidisciplinary collaboration.
