Junior Buyer - Product Category Management

About the role

JYSK Canada is looking for a Junior Buyer to support a Category Manager with the purchasing and line management of a designated product portfolio. The goal is to maximize sales and profit while coordinating with key teams on several projects at once, including retail pricing management, cost negotiations, inventory management, sales forecasting and marketing content. The role is based onsite in the Coquitlam corporate office.

Key responsibilities

• Act as an expert for the portfolio by following market trends, competitor analysis and consumer needs
• Help manage the product assortment, forecast the sales mix and set pricing strategy under the Category Manager's direction
• Maximize profitability and sales against financial targets and identify growth and savings opportunities
• Manage large data sets with Power BI and Excel, and keep price and product specs accurate in the systems
• Plan demand and promotions to keep inventory levels optimal
• Work with Marketing, Visual Merchandising, planning, e-commerce and store operations on campaigns, product selection, pricing and in-store displays

Required profile

• 2-5 years of experience in retail buying or a related field
• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
• Detail-oriented, organized and self-motivated, able to work independently and in a team
• Ability to handle conflicting priorities and build lasting relationships with internal and external partners

Required skills

• Advanced MS Office and Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas)
• Database knowledge and reporting skills
