Junior Accountant – Temporary (Toronto)

About the role

The Finance team at ZoomerMedia is seeking a Junior Accountant to support day‑to‑day processing of accounts payable and receivable, as well as month‑end close activities for the company and its operating entities.

Key responsibilities

• Accounts Receivable: review incoming cheques, apply payments (cheque, cash, e‑transfer, EFT, credit card, inter‑company) in WideOrbit, process adjustments, NSFs, returned cheques and chargebacks, reconcile daily bank deposits, generate invoices and statements, respond to invoicing queries and provide collections support.
• Accounts Payable: review vendor invoices for proper documentation and coding, obtain approvals, enter data into the system, process cheque signatures, run EFT/wire payments, perform credit‑card and bank reconciliations, resolve vendor inquiries and reconcile statements.
• Month‑end close: prepare and post journal entries, reconcile AR, AP, bank accounts (CAD and USD), prepaid expenses, capital assets, accrued liabilities and inter‑company balances, and assist in preparing monthly financial schedules.
• General: cross‑cover other accountants during absences and peak periods, maintain organized, audit‑ready documentation.

Required profile

• Junior‑level accounting background.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet month‑end deadlines.

Required skills

• Experience with WideOrbit accounting system.
• Proficiency in processing EFT, wire and credit‑card payments.
• Knowledge of standard journal entry and reconciliation procedures.
