About the role
The University of British Columbia is seeking a part‑time Journal Assistant to support the BC Studies journal. Working under the Editor and Managing Editor, you will help keep the publication’s operations running smoothly on a 20 % FTE basis.
Key responsibilities
- Update subscriber information and manage payment records.
- Generate invoices, receipts and process journal vouchers.
- Handle bank deposit forms in Workday and record cheque deposits.
- Send books to reviewers, track overdue assessments and liaise with publishers for review copies.
- Assist with proof‑reading and editing of correspondence and promotional material.
- Process claims, dispatch replacement copies and manage annual subscription renewals.
- Maintain the BC Studies website and social‑media accounts.
- Conduct internet research to locate contributors, conferences and relevant publications.
- Perform general office tasks such as filing, inventory management and mail handling.
Required profile
- High school graduation.
- At least one year of related training.
- Minimum two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required skills
- FileMaker Pro.
- Workday.
What we offer
- Part‑time (20 % FTE) fixed‑term contract until 30 June 2027.
- Salary range $4,208 – $4,316 CAD per month (prorated).
