January 2027 Recruitment Co-op

About the role

Elk Valley Resources (EVR), a Canadian steelmaking coal producer operating four mines in the Elk Valley of British Columbia, is recruiting a recruitment co-op student starting in January 2027. The placement lasts 8 or 12 months and supports the recruitment of hourly positions for the mine operations and maintenance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Follow health and safety programs and policies
• Apply human resources policies and procedures
• Recruit hourly positions for the mine operations and maintenance teams
• Sort and categorize applications, run pre-screens and schedule interviews
• Help complete pre-employment requirements such as reference checks, drug testing, offer letters and onboarding
• Assist with career fairs and information sessions
• Research and write reports for the HR department
• Create and evaluate ideas and technologies that improve business processes

Required profile

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources
• Valid Class 5 driver's licence or extra-provincial equivalent without learner's restrictions preferred
• Motivated self-starter who can prioritize work under pressure, keeps confidentiality and shows attention to detail
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
• Experience with HR programs or software is an asset

• Salary of $4,117 to $5,192 CAD per month, depending on semesters and prior co-op experience
