Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

DS Consultants Ltd., a BluMetric company, is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join its Cambridge office. The role combines field investigations, laboratory testing and client interaction, supporting a variety of high‑rise and low‑rise development projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing proposals and cost estimates for geotechnical projects.
• Coordinate subcontractors, laboratory testing and documentation for investigations.
• Supervise borehole drilling, test pits and site inspections.
• Conduct analytical work such as slope stability, settlement analysis and soil improvement design.
• Write detailed geotechnical reports and provide technical services in both field and laboratory environments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in geotechnical, civil or geological engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in geotechnical field investigations, preferably in a consulting environment.
• Valid G‑Level Ontario driver’s licence, own vehicle with insurance, and ability to travel to sites.
• Strong workplace health and safety practices and ability to lift up to 50 lb.

• Proficiency with common geotechnical software.
• Slope stability and settlement analysis.
• Field and laboratory testing of soils, asphalt and concrete.
• Environmental and hydrogeological investigation techniques.
