Instructor – Contractual Obligations (Law) – Fall 2026

About the role

McGill University’s Faculty of Law seeks an experienced legal professional to teach the undergraduate course “Contractual Obligations” in the Fall 2026 term. The instructor will deliver lectures, guide discussions, and assess student performance in a bilingual academic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver weekly lectures on Tuesdays and Thursdays (08:35‑09:55) at Chancellor Day Hall.
• Develop and update course materials covering contract theory, formation, enforceability, interpretation, modification, good‑faith obligations, defects of consent, breach, and remedies across common law and civil law traditions.
• Design and grade assignments, exams, and other assessments.
• Coordinate with the Student Affairs Office regarding scheduling changes and student support.
• Maintain academic standards and contribute to the Faculty of Law’s teaching mission.

Required profile

• First degree in law (LL.B., J.D., or equivalent).
• Several years of significant practice or professional experience in contract law.
• Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate law students in a bilingual (English/French) setting.
• Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.
