Instructor – Bankruptcy & Insolvency (Fall 2026)

About the role

McGill Faculty of Law is seeking an experienced legal professional to teach the “Bankruptcy & Insolvency” course in the Fall 2026 term. The instructor will lead weekly lectures, guide students through complex restructuring cases, and integrate comparative and bijural perspectives.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures on Wednesdays from 08:35 to 11:25 in Chancellor Day Hall.
• Prepare and update course materials covering the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act, Quebec civil law, and international insolvency regimes.
• Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and case study analyses.
• Coordinate with the Student Affairs Office regarding schedule changes and student support.

Required profile

• First degree in law (LL.B. or J.D.).
• Several years of significant practice or professional experience in bankruptcy and insolvency law.
• Experience teaching undergraduate law students in a bilingual (English/French) setting.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Canadian bankruptcy and insolvency legislation.
• Familiarity with Quebec civil law and cross‑border insolvency principles.
