HVAC/R Service Technician (Journeyperson)

About the role

Black & McDonald Limited is looking for an experienced HVAC/R Service Technician Journeyperson to service and maintain heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning and refrigeration systems at its Charlottetown facilities. The role involves ensuring equipment reliability, safety and optimal performance across a portfolio of buildings.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain HVAC/R and gas equipment according to manufacturer and company specifications.
• Complete digital work orders, detailed service reports and daily time summaries using mobile technology.
• Enforce safe working conditions and adhere to company safety policies.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of HVAC/R service and maintenance experience.

Required skills

• Red Seal Refrigeration and Air‑Conditioning Mechanic certification.
• G1, G2 or G3 license or Gas Fitter Class A/B (or apprentice) – asset.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Reliability Security Clearance.
• Proficiency with mobile work‑order technology.
• Ability to read HVAC, mechanical and electrical schematics and line drawings.
• Knowledge of electronic, pneumatic and DDC control systems – asset.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
