HR Manager – People & Culture

About the role
Drax is building a modern HR function in Canada to support its renewable energy operations. The HR Manager (People & Culture) will be the primary HR partner for sites in Alberta, with future support for sites in British Columbia. Reporting to the HR Director, Canada, you will work closely with local leaders and a global HR network.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the main HR contact for assigned sites, providing day‑to‑day guidance across the employee lifecycle.
- Deliver employee‑relations support, including investigations, discipline, performance management and terminations.
- Partner with talent acquisition, development, total rewards and analytics specialists to implement broader HR initiatives.
- Assist leaders in building their people‑management capability through coaching and practical advice.
- Contribute to employee engagement programs and help create a fair, supportive workplace.
Required profile
- Several years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a fast‑moving operational environment.
- Strong judgment, confidentiality and the ability to handle complex employee situations.
- Excellent relationship‑building skills with a focus on onsite presence.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously.
