HR Generalist – Food Manufacturing

About the role

Our client, a long‑established food manufacturing organization in Markham, Ontario, is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support a broad range of HR functions in a fast‑paced production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead full‑cycle recruitment: job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, offers, onboarding and new‑hire follow‑up.
• Partner with managers to understand staffing needs and provide timely recruitment support.
• Conduct employee orientation and introduce new hires to policies, procedures, health and safety expectations and workplace standards.
• Support and strengthen the health and safety program, including documentation, incident reporting, inspections, return‑to‑work coordination and compliance.
• Assist in developing, reviewing and implementing HR policies, procedures, employee communications and company standards.
• Coordinate and track employee training initiatives such as onboarding, health and safety, compliance and other learning programs.
• Provide day‑to‑day HR support on employee relations, performance, attendance and policy matters.
• Handle employee relations issues, including coaching, documentation, investigations, conflict resolution and progressive discipline.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing full‑cycle recruitment in a manufacturing or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations and practices.
• Experience developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
• Ability to work hands‑on with both office and production staff while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
