Housing/Shelter Support Worker

About the role

Our Place Society is seeking a full‑time Housing/Shelter Support Worker to join its team in Victoria. The role involves direct engagement with residents, providing counselling, life‑skill building and emergency response within a supportive, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver individual support plans, conduct intake meetings and wellness checks.
• Provide basic one‑on‑one counselling, conflict resolution and psycho‑educational support.
• Distribute harm‑reduction and personal hygiene supplies, assist with meals and housekeeping tasks.
• Facilitate referrals to income assistance, permanent housing and external services.
• Respond to medical emergencies, including overdoses, administer naloxone and provide first aid.
• Maintain accurate electronic records, incident reports and statistical data.

Required profile

• Training or knowledge of non‑violent crisis intervention and harm‑reduction approaches.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment.
• Familiarity with community resources and services for shelter users.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
