EXCEL Group Leader: Before and/or After School Programs

About the role

The Halifax Regional Centre for Education is hiring an EXCEL Group Leader for its Before and/or After School Child Care program, at one of its many locations in the Halifax area. The position is open to candidates who want to join the team at a specific site.

Key responsibilities

• Provide before and/or after school child care as a Group Leader.
• Work five days per week, with availability 30 minutes before the end of the regular school day.
• Before school shifts usually start at 7:30 am; after school shifts usually start around 2 pm, though start times vary by site.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience in the child care field.
• High school completion certificate or equivalent.
• Ability to work as part of a team and strong communication skills.
• A valid First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
• Criminal records check with Vulnerable Sector Search and a completed Child Abuse Registry Search are required before employment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of recreational programming.
