Activity Instructor - Winter/Spring 2027

About the role

Muskoka Woods is a Christian youth development organization on the shores of Lake Rosseau, offering summer camp, school trips, group retreats and leadership development. Its Schools & Retreats team runs programs from September to June for over 25,000 guests, including students, corporate groups and church retreats. Activity Instructors lead guests in sports, adventure activities, arts, nature exploration and team-building, trained in up to 25 activities.

Key responsibilities

• Run activities and programs for groups of 10 to 20 people, often travelling with an assigned group or specializing in one area
• Work hours typically 8am to 5pm, with 1 to 2 evening shifts each week for evening programs, snacks, office coverage, the Camp Store, dish shifts and occasional work projects
• Attend all staff meetings, including Cadence and Small Group
• Help guests and staff in emergencies, supervise guests constantly, and lift and carry 10 to 30 lbs on work projects
• Work in other areas such as program, dishwashing, housekeeping, grounds keeping, snow removal and office coverage

Required profile

• Personal values matching the MW Core Values, including a passion for working with children and youth
• Able to instruct a variety of activities, manage group dynamics and build relationships while keeping a safe, fun experience
• Good time management, attention to detail and sound decision-making
• Supportive, patient, energetic, with good communication and interpersonal skills with children and youth
• Must be 18 years old by the start of the contract to complete High Ropes Training
• Must live on property in Rosseau, Ontario for the duration of the contract

Required skills

• Facilitation and instruction of activities
• Group management and leadership of small and large groups
• Previous experience in athletics and with children and youth is preferred
