Licensed Home Child Care Provider

About the role

Compass Early Learning and Care is looking for a Licensed Home Child Care (HCC) Provider in the Durham Region. As a licensed HCC business, you set your own program, schedule and hours (part day, full day, extended day, evenings, weekends, overnight) and work alongside other providers, families and community partners. Applicants join a waitlist until the organization can start onboarding.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, lead and guide play-based experiences around children's interests throughout the day
• Observe and document children's learning
• Build relationships with families and include them in the learning process
• Work as part of a team with providers, families, community partners and children
• Ensure children's safety by acknowledging their diverse needs and backgrounds and creating equitable opportunities for all
• Maintain the safety and cleanliness of equipment, furniture and materials
• Engage actively in professional learning

Required profile

• Access to a suitable space for up to 6 children (play, meals, sleep, outdoor areas); rent requires landlord approval
• Experience with young children
• Warmth, sincerity and genuine interest when working with children
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Valid Standard First Aid/CPR Level C certificate, updated immunization records, a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (within three months) and an active Food Handler's Certificate

Capacity: up to 6 children under 13, no more than 3 under 24 months, including the provider's own children under 4 (a child in kindergarten is excluded from the ratio).
