Licensed Home Child Care Provider

About the role

Compass Early Learning and Care is looking for a Licensed Home Child Care (HCC) Provider in Northumberland County. As a licensed HCC business, you set your own program, schedule and hours (part day, full day, extended day, evenings, weekends, overnight) and may care for up to six children under 13, with no more than three under 24 months, including your own children under 4 (unless they are in kindergarten). The start date depends on government funding and licensing capacity, and applicants join a waitlist until onboarding begins.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, lead and guide play-based experiences around children's interests throughout the day
• Observe and document children's learning
• Build relationships with families and include them in the learning process
• Work as part of a team with providers, families, community partners and children
• Ensure children's safety by acknowledging their diverse needs and backgrounds
• Maintain the safety and cleanliness of equipment, furniture and materials
• Engage actively in professional learning

Required profile

• Experience with young children and a warm, sincere interest in working with them
• Suitable operational space for up to six children, including play, meals, sleep and outdoor areas
• Rent or own your home or apartment (landlord approval needed for rent)
• Updated immunization records or a signed, notarized refusal affidavit or medical exemption
• Active Food Handler's Certificate
• Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (within three months)
• Valid Standard First Aid/CPR Level C certificate
