Hospitalist/Internist – Inpatient Oncology Unit

About the role
The Waterloo Regional Health Network Cancer Centre is seeking a board‑certified Hospitalist or Internist to provide inpatient care on the oncology unit at the WRHN Midtown site in Kitchener. The role begins immediately and offers a full‑time schedule with the possibility of a 4‑weeks‑out‑of‑4 arrangement.
Key responsibilities
- Round on approximately 20 in‑patients daily on the oncology ward, including solid‑tumor and malignant‑hematology cases.
- Admit patients from the Emergency Department during daytime hours.
- Manage systemic therapy treatments such as induction chemotherapy and autologous stem‑cell transplants.
- Address complications related to cancer therapies and coordinate care with oncology and hematology teams.
- Collaborate with a fellow hospitalist, a nurse practitioner specialized in leukemia, and on‑site oncology staff.
Required profile
- Certification in Family Medicine (College of Family Physicians of Canada) or Internal Medicine/Emergency Medicine (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada).
- Eligibility for independent licensure in Ontario and ability to obtain privileges at the WRHN Midtown site.
- Experience managing complex oncology or hematology in‑patients is preferred.
