Home Support Worker – Personal Care & Companion

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Home Support Worker to provide personal care and companionship to an elderly client in their Markham home. The role involves assisting with daily living activities and ensuring a safe, comfortable environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the client with bathing, personal hygiene and dressing.
• Support regular exercise such as walking and mobility activities.
• Help with feeding or provide assistance during meals.
• Perform light housekeeping, cleaning and laundry tasks.
• Shop for food and household supplies and prepare nutritious meals.
• Provide companionship and emotional support throughout the day.
• Monitor the client’s health status and report any changes.
• Assist with medication reminders as needed.
• Ensure safety procedures and emergency protocols are followed.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation certificate.
• 1–2 years experience in home support or personal care.
• Client‑focused, organized, reliable and patient.
• Ability to work in a non‑smoking, employer‑home environment.
• Good communication skills in English.
• Willingness to support newcomers and refugees.
